Kay has done it again!
She has created a fun and easy Mystery Quilt.
Here is a list of the fabric requirements and the first step to complete
it.
FABRIC
REQUIREMENTS
Dark—2 yards
Light—1-1/3 yards
Medium—1 yard
Light Medium—1 yard
Dark Medium—7/8 yard
Binding—3/4 yard
Backing—4-1/2 yards
CUTTING
INSTRUCTIONS
Dark
11 strips—4-1/2”x width of fabric
16—4-1/2” squares |
Light
8 strips—4-1/2” x width of fabric
Cut one of the strips into 8—4-1/2” squares |
Medium
12—4-1/2” x 12-1/2” rectangles
8—4-1/2” squares |
Light Medium
3 strips—4-1/2” x width of fabric
9—4-1/2” squares |
Dark
Medium
12—4-1/2” x 12-1/2” rectangles |
STEP 1
Sew 1 dark strip and 1 light strip together. Make 4 sets.
Cut into 4-1/2” segments.
You will need 32 total of these segments.
Sew 1 light medium
strip and one light strip together. Make 3 sets.
Cut into 4-1/2” segments.
You will need 24 total of these segments.
STEP
2
Sew together four light/dark
segments and three light/light medium segments from step 1 to make a row
as shown below. Add 1 light 4 1/2" square at the end. Make 8
of these.

STEP 3
Get the 16 dark 4 1/2"
squares, 12 medium 4 1/2" x 12 1/2" rectangles and 8 medium 4
1/2" squares.
Sew together as shown. Make 4 sets.

STEP 4
Get the 12 Dark Medium 4
1/2" x 12 1/2" rectangles and 9 Light Medium 4 1/2" squares.
Sew them together as shown to create 3 rows.

STEP 5
Get the 8 rows from STEP 2
and the 4 rows from STEP 3. Sew one STEP 2 row on each side of a STEP 3 row as
shown.
You will now have 4 of these sections.

STEP 6
Sew all sections from STEP 5
alternately with rows from STEP 4.

STEP 7
Sew the remaining dark 4 ½ " strips together end to end to
create one long strip. From this, cut two borders the width of your
top from STEP 6 (about 60 ½"). Add one to each side of the
quilt. Measure again and cut the two remaining borders by this new
measurement (about 68 ½"). Add to top and bottom of quilt.
Finished quilt will be approximately 68 ½" square.
